TOYS FOR DEVELOPING STACKING SKILLS

WHY IS IT NECESSARY FOR CHILDREN TO LEARN HOW TO STACK THINGS?

Children enjoy learning how to stack things high, but did you realize that when they finish a stacking task, they are also acquiring a variety of skills?

Stacking helps kid improve their hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and capacity for problem-solving. Which block will fit on top of another will require your child to solve a puzzle.

It gives kids the chance to practice balance, spatial awareness, and cause-and-effect interactions, all of which are crucial for their general development. Your child will discover how difficult it is to maintain balance if a block slips off. As they learn that it is simpler to stack a smaller ring on top of a larger one, their spatial awareness will grow.

Moreover, stacking can be an enjoyable and stimulating game for kids, encouraging their imagination and creativity. Your youngster is more likely to keep up with an activity if they are enjoying it. Play a game with it, such as who can balance the puzzle pieces the best or stack the tallest tower !

3 WAYS TO PRACTICE STACKING TOYS

1. Simple Stacking: Your kids build large towers out of simple toys like cups or blocks by stacking them on top of one another. If the tower is extremely tall, this will also improve cognitive and gross motor skills!

2. Sorting and Stacking: Provide toys in a variety of sizes, colors, and shapes, and encourage the kid to arrange them in different stacks after they have been sorted. Stack identical shapes side by side. Maybe try arranging the blocks in a pattern by placing red, yellow, and green in a row.

3. Balance and Stability Challenges:  Encourage your child to stack objects in ways that test their sense of stability and balance, like piling blocks on top of one another to create a bridge or tower that spans a gap. Or stack a tower that starts with the smallest pieces first to make it tougher as it gets higher. Another idea is to stack objects that aren't generally used for stacking, such teddies or pillows. When you run around gathering the objects, this is particularly useful for gross motor skills.
